A Results-Oriented Approach to Communications Training

PICTURE

Linchpin was founded by Ed Barr and Chris Labash, who teach graduate-level courses in written and oral communications at Carnegie Mellon University, and have restructured much of their coursework into mini-courses specifically-designed for contemporary workforces, focusing on "linchpin people:" those people who are mission-critical to the success of the organization.

Using techniques developed for quickly teaching graduate students high-value oral and written communications skills, and based on over 20 years' practical experience, Linchpin's mini-courses help participants hone their messages, structure their content, write more clearly, speak more effectively, and contribute more value - by getting more things done - in their organizations.

We started Linchpin because the people who hire our Carnegie Mellon students give them consistently high marks for their communications skills. "We wish all of our hires had these skills," they tell us.

Concentrating on the key writing and oral communication skills that most workers need but few naturally possess, Linchpin mini-courses address the business communications skills most critical to most organizations. The need for these skills has never been higher, as evinced by an increasing body of evidence.
